History of The Throgs Neck Little League
1968 - Ran our sixth and final Bazaar. Acquired license to operate weekly Bingo to raise the additional funds to complete the constructions of the fields . Project was completed opening day season.
1969 - League graduate Michael Nagy plays first season in the Major leagues with the Boston Red Sox and is runner-up to Lou Pinella for Rookie Of The Year Honors. Nagy had a 12 and 2 record as a starting pitcher that year.
1970 - Installed new lighting system on both fields which allowed us to expand the number of teams and games played. Throgs Neck Senior All Star Team after winning the eastern Regional Championship came in second in the World Series at Gary, Indiana.
1971 - Erected one story club house with all volunteer labor.
1973 - Ice storm brought down 40 foot high fence from left to center fields on senior field.
1974 - Senior Field fence replaced and a movable netting installed on upper 20 foot section to prevent a similar occurrence.
1976 - Installed underground drainage system and blacktopped entire spectator areas. Erected second floor on club house with press boxes and electric scoreboards with all volunteer labor. Throgs Neck Little League Senior Team finishes in second place in the State Finals.
1978 - Installed a generator to operate fields lights saving thousands of dallas in electric bills a year.
